Demon Salt.

Salt has been blamed for high blood pressure, aging, heart disease and even cancer. The truth is that traditionally processed white sea salt is very beneficial for health. I am not talking about over salted processed foods; rather the benefits of adding high quality sea salt to your cooking and in some cases your table food.

Salt in one’s diet improves the metabolism. I’ve discovered in my health research and clinical experience that low metabolism is one of the common factors in all diseases. Low sodium levels either created by a too low salt diet or drinking too much water and liquids, or both, can trigger conditions such as migraine headaches, seizures, hypothyroidism, heart disease and even some cancers over a long period of time.

Salt improves digestion, gets a person out of stress, is a natural anti-histamine, and aids in blood sugar control by boosting the adrenal gland function.

Salt gets you out of the stress mode, it aids sleep. Often, because of diet, lifestyle and other factors a person is stuck in the stress mode. Salt aids the adrenal glands by helping them to get out of the stress mode.

Eating adequate amounts of salt will aid in maintaining a healthy weight by supporting your digestion so that you can absorb more nutrients and feel more satisfied with less food. Salt is essential for proper heart functioning because it supports the contractive phase of the heart muscle.

Through the support of the adrenal glands, salt balances all the hormones in the body and makes food taste good. This is especially important for the elderly who often do not eat enough food because of their recommendation to lower their salt for high blood pressure conditions. Research has proven that salt does not have to be reduced to lower one’s blood pressure. Salt has been found to stabilize blood pressure levels by supporting the function of the adrenal glands.
